I had some furniture legs left over from another project, so I just screwed those in.
I bought a cheap twin size box spring on clearance to give it some height and a thin foam mattress from Ikea for softness. I slipcovered it all in dropcloth fabric, inspired by all the projects Rene featured here, I sewed up some pillows, and voila!
early morning picture is probably too bright. should have held off for picture taking til pm but i couldn't wait!
A cozy place to sip tea and soak up the morning rays, read a book, take a long nap. It's everything I wanted—a generous window seat that fits that space perfectly. Like it was made for it!

Love it, love it!!! I have a window seat up stairs...it is small..and I have been considering making it bigger....you just inspired me to try and do something different with it!!!
Good job, you! This looks fabulous!
Casey, awesome job!! It's looks great nestled between the windows! Love the bolster pillow as well as the bleecker pillows!!
Wow! The twin mattress fits perfect in the space. The sun shining through is perfect in the picture! What a great place to relax and cuddle up with a book. Enjoy your wonderful comfy place!!!
What a great way to use that space! I bet it will be more than just a "day" bed.
Very cool!
You made it look so easy...the perfect spot for relaxing!!
You are on a roll! Your day bed is the perfect touch for that space! I love that you made it yourself. Amazing!
Thank you for the shout out too :)
It looks so good! Love the pillows, they came out great. Oh, I want to come over and lounge and read magazines on that! (I don't think I have read a magazine in two months, maybe I need a window seat ;)

This looks amazing!! I'd like to lay there and read a good glossy! Great job ;)
I love it! I can't believe you made that - nice job!
This almost makes me feel like I could accomplish something similar -- you've made it look so easy! Is the cover a dropcloth.
The entire thing is stunning -- especially how you've brought in the chandelier and the woven side table.
Camille, yes, the cover is a dropcloth. The whole thing really was simple. Go for it--and if you do, we want to see!!
I came back for a second look to see how you made the frame. And I see that you answered my question about the drop cloth. Those things turn out to be very handy! Anyway, thank you! Also, is it ok if I link to your post on curtains as doors for my post on Tuesday?
Thanks again!
Camille
Oh, one more question! What size drop cloth did you use? Do you have a post on the dimension of the boards?
Camille
hi camille, i would be thrilled for you to link to me with your post! also, i didn't specify the lengths--it turned out to be very close to the size of a twin bed. i had the plywood cut to 3' x 5'. and then i had the 2x4s cut down into 3' lengths to lay widthwise. sounds like you are planning your own daybed. so exciting!! oh, and i got a 6x9 dropcloth but it's a bit too small! i would go larger if i were to do it again.
Haven't had a chance to reply yet until now. Thank you!
I really want to make the daybeds (two of them to go end-to-end in the dining room as a banquet/place for guests to sleep, but oh, so many projects to do before then. Working on painting the kitchen now...I'll let you know soon as I'm ready. I really appreciate the info you gave me.
