It also reminded me of one of my favorite bird-related decor items: a birdcage. Not for birds to live in, mind you—birds should be wild and free and outdoors—but just a decorative cage, to hang or stand or mount on a wall and look very chic. Birdcages, especially antique ones, can be ornate or simple, but they are all so graphic and architecturally interesting. Sometimes just what a room needs.
I own just one, and I've painted it chartreuse and it's in my foyer. I'm not a big collector, but I could definitely get into collecting birdcages (either that or watering cans!) by visiting eBay or flea markets (Brimfield's coming up in not too long?).
Have you used birdcages in your decorating? Would you? Here's a little roundup of a few that I think look amazing.

I love decorating with birdcages! I have a few I use during the Halloween season and I have one in my dining room on my buffet as we speak!
I am in love with the huge one in that entry way and the ones on those asion armoires!

Casey, birds chirping in the morning is a welcome sound. I really like bird cages too and would love to have one in our sun room. Maybe I will get lucky one day.
Wasn't this weekend just beautiful? I loved hearing the birds too! I actually bought my BF a birdcage when I visited Bangkok one year and gave it to her for her wedding gift! To this day, she always tells me it's her favorite gift - it looks exactly like your 4th picture down.
My Husband and I are both addicted to anything that has to do with birds. We've used so many in our home decor and we have to convince ourselves not to buy anymore. I love the bird cages. :)
It's such a coincidence that you posted about this today. Just this morning I was thinking about a bird cage I bought last year at Goodwill and painted white. I was thinking that it would look nice brought out for spring or at least Easter. Now I just have to decide what to do with it.
I loved the photos you selected, lots of inspiration here.
Loved every one of these images.... so nice. I agree that birds should be free but the cages themselves are a gorgeous accessory to have.
Cannot stop looking at the bird fabric on the sofa too. WOW!
Love this, so pretty!
