fresh, fun new year room

This image from Ballard Designs' latest catalog (aren't they hitting it out of the park lately, by the way?) stopped me in my tracks the other day. It feels so refreshing, fun, and colorful. Perfect for the new year. Perfect for the after-holiday blahs.

Wth a happy mix of colors, patterns, and textures—and the cute pup doesn't hurt—that can't help but make you smile. I also brighten at the unexpected elements (the set of three pendants, the art hung next to the pinboard, the stool instead of coffee table) that make the room feel fresh and not staid. I'm inspired and know I'll be reaching a bit more these days for this playful, surprising mood in my spaces and my clients'.

I couldn't agree more--there's nothing quite like a dose of well-used color when the days are shorter and colder this time of year!

The texture and color makes a feel good room. I am all about a little color in my world lately.

Fun! Color, but not too much and lots of unexpecteds. The perfect combo.

I was happy to see Ballard change its look a little recently. The new year is a great time to spruce things up-especially when you live in the midwest, it gives you a good reason to stay out of the cold.

Ballard's is so smart to push their look in this direction. Their catalogs were getting a bit tired and this is just the kick they needed!

Hey, Casey! I just read through my Ballard's catalog the other day and dog-eared a ton of pages, this one included. Those blue lights reminded moe of those glass pendants we saw at that shop in Providence with Carrie, remember (the one with the D&A rugs)?!
Your previous post about what Michael likes in kitchens is sooo good! I'm probably going to have to pin a couple of those images. So cool that he has such great taste, you found a winner:)

I am ready to add a bit of color back in my house after a cold and grey winter. I just added some orange shams on my bed. I love the image. I also spot the small table you are using for your client ;)

Yeah, those glass shades are gorgeous. I love them mixed with the floral print. Where's my catalog? I must go find it.
